Closing 2025: Global overlap analysis and automating sandwich structures with FPP – and looking forward to 2026

Dear Friends of Fiber Patch Placement,

Welcome to the December edition of the FPP newsletter. While the lights shine bright on many Christmas trees here in Europe, we’d also like to put a warm spotlight on a new key feature in Artist Studio: The Global Overlap Analysis. This feature enables composite engineers to efficiently safeguard laminate design quality while simultaneously leveraging the unique lay-up flexibility of Fiber Patch Placement with large plies and patches.

A good use case of the Global Overlap Analysis is, for example, the design of adhesive layers in sandwich parts – ensuring that 100% of the surface is covered, with as little material as possible. Works very well on strongly curved parts and other geometrical complexities. You can learn more about the details in our articles below.

Motion Artist adds consistent handling of deposit optimization: this is now more obvious from the user interface, movement optimization has been renamed to deposit optimization, and scripting functions were updated while keeping compatibility with legacy scripting files.

In 2025, we had an action-packed event season, advancing FPP in aerospace and hydrogen sectors. We showcased Cevotec’s developments at major events like JEC World in Paris, the Paris Air Show, CAMX, H2 Technology Expo, and Composites World’s Carbon Fiber Conference. The year marked significant strides in high-rate, automated composite manufacturing – and we’re now looking ahead to 2026.
