ARTIST STUDIO 25.2.0 release: Introducing global overlap analysis, multi-level freezing & file audit, improved curve definitions

Aerospace laminates leave little room for ambiguity. In Release 25.2.0, ARTIST STUDIO tightens three places where clarity matters most: patch overlaps, cross-team handoffs, and curve generation names.

Global patch overlap analysis

Patch overlaps are a small parameter with large consequences. In Fiber Patch Placement (FPP), an aggressive overlap adds weight; a thin one risks gaps and weak spots—especially on complex geometry. The new Global Patch Overlap Analysis gives you a project-wide view, built to handle large laminates and irregular patch shapes.

Set a minimum overlap threshold once (e.g., 2 mm). ARTIST STUDIO verifies surface coverage across the entire laminate and immediately flags areas that fall below your limit. Designers see issues where they occur—on edges, tight radii, or transitions—and can correct them early, before manufacturing data is generated. The result is faster iteration and more consistent laminate quality without guesswork.

Multi-level freezing for FPP files

Design and manufacturing often move in parallel, which makes accidental edits expensive. Multi-level freezing introduces deliberate pauses in that motion. You can freeze the CAD model, the laminate, and the robot program (machine data) individually or together. Frozen items stay put until someone with permission unfreezes them; every change is logged and the version history increments automatically.

This creates an auditable trail across the full stack of the FPP file. Comparing versions is straightforward, sign-offs are easier, and handoffs during the development process between teams become more reliable and transparent.

Updated curve algorithm naming

In Patch Artist, curve creation is as fundamental as patch design. Over time, more algorithms meant more names—and more room for confusion. We’ve reorganized the naming so base algorithms are labeled intuitively and clearly separated from their variants. The menus read cleaner, selection is quicker, and it’s easier to pick a strategy that matches the geometry you’re working on.

Summary : Release 25.2.0 is fully backward compatible with existing projects. Global Overlap Analysis is available in the design stage; freezing and version logging apply across the design and manufacturing modules. If you need a name-mapping table for curve algorithms, contact us and we’ll include it in the docs.
