GOCarbon Fibre for now 20 years provides a unique global forum for all parties involved in the carbon fiber supply chain. High caliber speakers give a comprehensive update on the industry’s development. Among them in 2018 Cevotec’s EVP Dr. Neven Majic.

Talking about automated manufacturing of complex composites for new applications in aerospace based on Fiber Patch Placement technology, Dr. Majic showed up Fiber Patch Placement as state-of-the-art technology to overcome challenges in production of complex composites. “Particularly the technology’s potential for the multi-material-design of complex sandwich components as common in aerospace industry aroused high interest among the audience”, recaps Dr. Majic. “The FPP production system SAMBA Multi with its parallel feeding units for different materials enables the automated lay-up of this special multi-material mix in one single system which has an extremely positive effect on process times and thus the production volume.”
As a software expert, Dr. Majic put his special emphasis on the virtual process chain as key enabler for patch-based composites. As virtual product development is crucial for the whole process, the technology-specific CAD-CAM software ARTIST STUDIO for generating patch-based fiber laminates and automated robot programming opens up exciting perspectives for carbon fiber industry branches.
Next possibility to get familiar with the latest FPP developments will be at Advanced Engineering Show in Birmingham (booth N86) and Composite Europe in Stuttgart (hall 9, booth E60e).
