FPP Technology at Asia Pacific Innovation Summit

The Munich-based startup Cevotec presents the Fiber Patch Placement technology at the Asia Pacific Innovation Summit in Hong Kong.

With the innovative process  of building complex carbon components not with continuous fibers, but with so-called patches, the Munich-based startup company Cevotec is  attracting a lot of interest in the Asian region.

“The invitation to the Asia Pacific Innovation Summit demonstrates the relevance of composite patch technology especially for the Asian region,” summarizes Thorsten Gröne, CEO of Cevotec GmbH, his experiences. „Here the production of complex CFRP components is still very much dominated by manual work, but many investment programs for automatic manufacturing technologies are currently being developed or already implemented.“

The presentation of Fiber Patch Placement in Hong Kong was the first, but certainly not the last one on Far Eastern soil. “In a region, where many sports articles and consumer products are manufactured, we see a lot of potential applications for patch technology”, says Gröne. „And we are particularly excited about the response to the official product launch at the JEC 2017 in Paris.”

At JEC World 2017, Cevotec will present the production system SAMBA and the matching CAD-CAM software ARTIST STUDIO, the first fully developed combination of hardware and software for the automated production of complex fiber preforms and load-path-oriented reinforcements.

About Cevotec
Cevotec develops and sells intelligent systems for the additive and automated production of complex carbon composites. SAMBA is Cevotec’s high-tech production system for dry fiber preforming, especially for complex 3D shapes and load-path-oriented reinforcements. With ARTIST STUDIO, the company provides the matching CAD-CAM software platform, and offers additional development services for prototypes and series products. Cevotec is a spin-off from Technische Universität München and partners with the European Space Agency ESA, Airbus Group and Baumann Automation.
