Since this is our first ARTIST STUDIO newsletter, we will shortly summarize all important updates of the previous year:

PATCH ARTIST

• New parallel slave curve generation algorithm (beta)
• Improvements in other curve-creation algorithms 
• Thickness offsets: more flexible choice of when to generate offset surfaces, other thickness plot and thickness offsets changes (fixes, improved smoothing), added a way to export thickness-offset surface 
• Variable patch length: stabilization and improvements for some corner cases
• Trapezoids: more stable; improved draping and visualization 
• Rework of color plots

MOTION ARTIST

• Collision detection improvements 
• Selecting grippers enabled
• More flexible deposit optimization 
• More information in machine-data export 
• Calculation of best push-in based on out-of-plane curvature 
• Trapezoids: optimized patch picking based on patch’s bounding box; shape included in machine-data export
• Live preview of being-edited robot positions

External interfaces

• New FEA module, supporting OptiStruct and Nastran formats with PCOMPG, PCOMPP and PCOMP property definitions 
• Improvements of Catpart curve import 
• Export of patch boundaries as individual edges

Miscelaneous

• More flexible selection propagation
• Laminate and machine-data statistics 
• Support for displays with dpi scaling (HD/4k monitors) 
• Easier deselection in 3D view 
• Javascript: better error handling; new APIs e.g. for accessing points of a curve
• Updated third party libraries (to OCCT 7.6, Qt 6.2.3, VTK 9.1.0 and others)
• Warning about loading a file with disabled features 
• Saving reviewed 
• Warning when license is about to expire
