New team lead for Production Technology: Welcome Tomás!

Tomás Giesecke is the new team lead for our Production Technology team since beginning of October. His perfect German language skills almost hide the fact that he originally comes from Chile, where he studied Mechanical Engineering. For seven years he worked in South America as an engineer, servicing and designing mining equipment, as well as managing large scale projects for that industry. He then moved to Germany to pursue his dream of working in the automation industry.

After earning his first experiences at KraussMaffei, where he designed robotic cells for the plastic industry, he worked several years at Giesecke+Devrient. His task was to design and manage large, automated intralogistics projects for central banks. Tomás then joined Cevotec, seeking the opportunity to follow his passion and work in the field of automation and robotics with Fiber Patch Placement technology.

He and his team at Cevotec are responsible for developing and building our SAMBA Series FPP systems for the series production of composite parts. One big milestone for Tomás in 2023 will be the commissioning and inauguration of the all new SAMBA Pro PV, optimized to produce dome reinforcements for composite pressure vessels.

We’re happy to welcome such an experienced, passionate new team lead and are looking forward to setting milestones in composites with Tomás!

About Cevotec

Munich-based automation specialist Cevotec offers one of the world’s most advanced production systems for complex fiber composites. At the intersection of composites, mechanical engineering and software, Cevotec develops production systems and software based on Fiber Patch Placement (FPP) technology: SAMBA and ARTIST STUDIO. The production systems enable the automated lay-up of carbon fiber, glass fibers, adhesive films and other technical fibers on complex 3D geometries. Manufacturers use FPP technology to produce e.g. multi-material aerostructures, composite pressure vessel reinforcements, and other high-performance components in a quality-controlled, fully automated process, which enables them to realize cost & cycle time savings of 20%-60% when switching from conventional processes to Fiber Patch Placement.
